The open work permit is a process that enables a foreign skilled worker to work for any Canadian employer for a specific period of time. Some jobs or places may be restricted in some open work permits. A candidate for an open work permit will not require LMIA or a previous employment offer. A worker can apply for an open work permit from outside of Canada. There are two types of open work permits-

1. Unrestricted open work permits- a foreign national can work in any job, for any employer in Canada.
2. Occupation restricted open permit- A person must work in a specific job under any employer.
