SDS

To improve the international student immigration program and develop their services The IRCC has launched the Student Direct Steam (SDS). It is available for students looking for study permits in Canada from China, Vietnam, India, Pakistan, The Philippines, Morocco, and Senegal. The applicants must demonstrate their financial ability and required language proficiency to succeed academically in Canada before applying for this program. In order to apply for these programs, candidates must meet some additional criteria.

They are-

1. Candidates must have a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 in All sections.
2. Purchase of guaranteed investment certificate (GIC) of $10000
3. Candidates have to have been accepted by an eligible Canadian Designated Learning Institute (DLI)
4. Proof of payment for the first year of study at a DLI.
5. Completion of the secondary and post-secondary programs from their native country with a first-class score.

Non-SDS

The Non-SDS or General program for student immigration by the Canadian government is for those countries that are ineligible for the SDS program. Students from those countries can apply for a student visa under the general category. Students who don’t qualify under the SDS program from China, Vietnam, India, Pakistan, the Philippines, Morocco, and Senegal can also apply under this program.

The process for the general program is different and more detailed documents are required that the SDS program. Students have to solidly prove financial stability and their source of income. Under the general category, GIC is not compulsory as savings, loans, investments are all considered funds. The language and education requirements for this program are mostly the same as SDS.

The other requirements are –

1. Proof of work experience with 3 month’s payslip
2. Proof of payment of tuition fee
3. Tax return or Form 16 of either student or sponsor as income proof.
4. Visa fee of $150
